Record in Nashville?

Things you need to know about music production when you Record in Nashville!

When it comes to music production, a lot of artistes get it wrong and this usually ends up hampering their success. The most vital thing you should have in the back of your mind when you record in Nashville is this, it does not matter who produces your song (whether it’s a big name in the industry or not) what really matters is the end product. This is what hits the market and this is what your audience is going to listen to.Therefore every artist or band when you record in Nashville should make the most of every recording session with the following points in mind.

•Pre-production phase

This phase of your song production is just as important as the production phase. Thus you have to make sure you get it right before you hit the studio. If you do this phase right when you record in Nashville, you will find yourself spending less time and money in the studio and on the studio fees respectively. You can do this by practicing your song over and over again until you can get it right even in your sleep. Your band members should also get everything right down to every little detail.

•About your producer

Remember that your producer is the most important person in your song production. Therefore make sure you get one who is very good and easy to work with. Before you give that person a call, make sure it is the right person for your music. Check up on their street credits. Also ensure you have an informal meeting with this person before you sign on a deal. For example you could have him or her come spend a lunch date or a jam session with you and your band. Ask them about their taste in music and how they work. Also ensure that you listen to this person’s previous works. And most importantly, follow your instincts. If you are not comfortable with this person or you don’t trust their style of work, then you will be saving yourself a lot of future stress and financial loss if just let them go from the beginning.

•About The Studio

Most likely, you will be spending a lot of money on studio time when you record in Nashville and as this is the powerhouse where almost everything gets done, you have to ensure you get a quality studio. When I say quality, I mean a studio that meets at least 90% of your needs. It has to be spacious, encourage inspiration, be calming as well as relaxing. And then more importantly, the musical instruments, mics and outboard gear should be in excellent condition. If your studio does a good job, you should save money on production sessions with your producer.

•Your Studio House Engineers

They include the engineer, the mixing engineer and the mastering engineer. They all have very important and distinct roles to play in getting your songs recorded properly. They set up the amps, mics, instruments, gears etcetera. They mix your sounds, filter it properly and give it the right feel and vibe. They also calm you down when you are agitated or anxious, pep-talk you and will probably even get you a cup of coffee too. So make sure you choose studios with the right engineers when you record in Nashville. Set aside a good budget for this, especially for your mastering engineer. Some of them give good discounts during slow times in the year. Make sure you find out about this.

Your will know you have gotten yourself a good deal when your average song ends up sounding top notch!

As with your producer, always remember to ask for a test run before you sign up with them and never be afraid to ask for a discount. You might be surprised what a deal you can get for yourself.

Wishing you the best in your project!

Recording a CD?

Four Things To Remember Before Recording Your Album

Planning to record your very own album? Wanting to impress others by your voice?

Then you have landed on the right page – there are a lot of things that you need to consider before hiring someone to help you with recording; it is no piece of cake and not everybody’s cup of tea to give you the best recordings, ever!

Here is a list of the top four things to remember before recording your CD:

Your voice matters, but recording matters more – If you want to be a singer, no doubt you’ve got to have an excellent voice, but it is also in the hands of the Producer to portray you as a good and fantabulous singer. Therefore, before checking to work with, check who will work with and for you to get the best you have to offer.. Find the best Producer for the best recording in Nashville. Hire someone, who has a deep knowledge about music and sound quality. A Music Producer who knows how to help you make a great CD!

Learn about the studio you would be recording in: It is important to have a studio that makes you feel comfortable enough to showcase your talents. The studio must inspire you to work. You would surely enjoy recording your voice if the studio is good enough for you. In case you are planning to record something at home, change a little bit of environment for your house. The location should motivate you to get the best out of yourself though this is something I would not reccomend.

Spend time in finding important people for your recording: There are a lot of people associated with the music that you listen to. It is not only in the hands of the singer to impress people and make them his fan; it is in the hands of the engineers, Music Producer, sound mixers, etc. to make the singer good enough for the listeners.

Prepare yourself in the best way: It is essential for you to prepare yourself since recording is not something that you do every day. It is an activity that nobody does often, unless you are an extremely talented person. If you are not a professional or are a newbie to the world of recording, you’ve got to do a lot of things to prepare yourself for the same.

Recording your very own album is a big thing; if you are planning to get it done, we would suggest you to do some research for a Record Producer for your recording in Nashville. Professionals like Tim Sidden are rarely found, but once you hire someone like him, you get relieved from half of the stress you have in your mind. It is essential for you to have someone, who can portray your music in the most efficient and amazing manner, so that you can reach your dream of being a professional artist.

Matt Boswell Starts Nashville Recording Project with Producer Tim Sidden

Below is a first hand experience to the Life of Matt Boswell from Producer Tim Sidden.

Matt Boswell

I still remember the day my best buddy and Steel Player Jimmy Church who recently past told
me about his first night playing music with Matt Boswell. Back then I had never heard of Matt.
Jimmy who had played on the Grand Ole Opry many times was what we call around home, a
True Country Music Troubadour and a great steel guitar man who knew how to make a steel cry
like some of the all time greats.
With all the respect I had for Jim, when he came to me bragging about this new artist he had
worked with, my eyes lit up. And after all the bragging, Jimmy summed up Matt best when he
said “That is Nashville Right There, He represents everything good in that town and a whole lot
more”.
After that comment from Jimmy, I had to meet this man. And soon after that conversation took
place I had the honor of meeting this man that Jimmy bragged on for so long.
Me meeting Matt was a breath of fresh air in a world of country music where songs had become
so stale with what is known as todays “Bro Country”. And after the first concert I was apart of, I
too became an instant fan.
Matt who is not only a great singer and writer, but also an accomplished musician, playing
several different instruments proficiently had surrounded himself with a stellar band of musicians
who complimented him and brought out the best in everything he did on stage.
Matt Boswell and The Hillbilly Blues Band is more like a brotherhood than anything else and that
reflects in the music every time they walk on stage.

Since then I have had the pleasure of getting to know Matt on a personal level and I can assure
you, the songs he writes and sings about reflect the life he lives. And if you have ever seen him
live, you know he has the talent to back it up.

But from a more personal level I have been to his farm and heard the stories about how he and
his beautiful wife Mandy built their amazing Log House from the ground up with their own hands.
Paying for it as they go. I have also seen how blessed he is to have a family that surrounds him
with love, and supports him unconditionally.

Case in point, One night I had to stay Matt Boswellover at his place as we were doing two shows back to
back in Va. On our way to his place he called to tell Mandy he was on the way home. He asked if
I was hungry and of course with a smile I said yes.
At that point, I was expecting, at most a frozen pizza and most likely a cold cut sandwich of
which I would have been grateful for being it was 3:30AM in the morning. Being we were miles
away from anything that might have been open.
To my surprise without Matt asking, Mandy got up and prepared a home cooked meal complete
with Potatoes, Fresh Vegetables and Oven Cooked Chicken, and set the table for our arrival
complete with dinnerware, and a choice of drinks on ice.

The conversation that followed at that table at about 4:00AM started off between Matt and Mandy
and was more like best friends talking about their day like they had not seen each other in weeks.
I literally had flashbacks to the Sunday afternoon dinners at Grandmas house. All at 4:00AM in
the morning. The icing on the cake was the next morning when I was literally served breakfast in
bed cooked by Mandy and delivered by Matt.Thinking back on that, that is just how country boys and their family roll.

With Family taking care of family and friends. This is just one instance of many where Matt has shown his true colors about the life he lives.

There are a lot of people that sing country music that really have no clue what real country music and country life is all about, but I can assure you that Matt Boswell knows what he is singing about. He lives it everyday with a heart for God, Country, Family and Freedom. and this is reflected in the songs that he sings every night.

The reason I am telling you this story about Matt is, A dream is coming true for this man of many
talents.
In the early fall I will be taking Matt to Nashville to start Producing his first Major CD. A CD that will
feature the musical talents of some of the best players, engineers and background singers in the
music business. But most of all it will feature the musical talents and songs of a man that should
be at the top of every country chart in the nation.

If you have never heard his songs, you’re in for a treat. His songwriting and ability to perform is
something to be admired. And know doubt after listening to this mans music, you to will experience
a man singing the songs he lives and breaths everyday and a man I am proud to call a dear
friend. Matt Boswell.

Free Piano Lesson Simple Fast Piano Run

Free Piano Lesson

Welcome to Free Piano Lesson s 4U. Today I want to walk you through a very nice but simple piano lick that you can play during a break on a very fast song. The entire piano lick is simply the break down of 2 chords coming down the piano from high to low and played in single note fashion. Once you get the hang of how I play this, you can throw this in as either a fill in a song or use it as a lick to play both up and down the piano.

Free Piano Lesson

www.FreePianoLessons4U.com

In todays Free Piano Lesson you will find this example. RC6. In our Free Piano Lesson today, the letters and numbers stand for (RC6) (R) is for Right Hand. (C) is the note to be played and (6) is the octave in which to play it. So C6 would mean play piano note C in the sixth Octave on the piano. More on this down below…

Free Piano Lesson

Todays Free Piano Lesson is going to consist of the 2 chords C and D Minor. The key to the entire run is playing the 2 chords in different inversions down the piano. And will be played entirely with your right hand. You will also notice in todays free piano lesson that I talk about 1st, 2nd and third inversions of a particular chord. An example of this in todays Free Piano Lesson would be, C 1st inversion is the normal way to play a simple C Chord C,E,G. The 2nd inversion is were we move the C note in the first inversion up one octave. Then your C Chord 2nd inversion would be this, E, G, C and the 3rd inversion of C Chord would be G, C, E.

(Free Piano Lesson C Chord)#1 = 2nd Inversion

With your Right Pinky play C7 Right Index Finger Play G6, And Right Thumb play E6.

(Free Piano Lesson D Minor Chord) #2 = 1st Inversion

With your Right Pinky play A6 Right Index Finger Play F6, And Right Thumb play D6.

(Free Piano Lesson C Chord) #3 1st Inversion

With your Right Pinky play G6 Right Index Finger Play E6, And Right Thumb play C6.

(Free Piano Lesson D Minor Chord) #4 = 3rd Inversion

With your Right Pinky play F6 Right Index Finger Play D6, And Right Thumb play A5.

(Free Piano Lesson C Chord) #5 3rd Inversion

With your Right Pinky play E6 Right Index Finger Play C6, And Right Thumb play G5.

(Free Piano Lesson D Minor Chord) #6 = 2nd Inversion

With your Right Pinky play D6 Right Index Finger Play A5, And Right Thumb play F5.

——————————–

At this point in the Free Piano Lesson you have played the entire piano lick. Then just simply start over one octave down at C6 and continue this all the way down the piano. First I want you to play the notes in the chords together in chord form and when you get used to doing it this way, I want you to break the notes up and play them individually all the way down one at a time.

You will in this Free Piano Lesson that this is a very smooth run that you can use in a lot of ways on piano. And with the right technique at which we will get into at a later date, you will be able to use this run in slow songs…

Free Piano Lesson: A Fun Way to Play the Major Scale on Piano

Free Piano Lesson 4U

Hello and Welcome, In today’s Free Piano Lesson I am going to show you a very cool way to practice the Major Scale… If you’re like me, you hated having to practice scales when you were learning…

Free Piano Lesson

www.FreePianoLessons4U.com

So instead of doing it the old fashioned way I came up with a easy fun way of learning the notes to all the major scales in this Free Piano Lesson. While the fingering is not the same on my  system, I feel the most important part of playing the piano is first learning the major scales… So many students want to move on to quickly because they get bored with this very important exercise.

But, I also highly recommend ALL students learn the correct fingering on your major scales and practice this technique regularly.

Like I said above, one of the most important parts of learning music is knowing the major and minor scales. And this way of playing them will inspire you to want to play them…

Free Piano Lesson

Before we begin, I will refer to RC4 in the lesson below. The letters and numbers represent (R) Right Hand, (C) The Note to be played and (4) The octave you play the note in.

Free Piano Lesson

To Start with in this Free Piano Lesson, I want you to place your Right Thumb on C4 and then place your Right Pinky on C5… Now I want you to play these notes separately back and forth… Play C4 then play C5 and just move back and forth from one to the other…. During todays Free Piano Lesson, your thumb will always play  the C4 note. Now I am going to list the notes I want you to play and you will find that this is actually a pretty simple idea. Just remember that you’re going to alternate between notes while always playing the C4 between each other note you play…

Free Piano Lesson C Major Scale.

One more quick thing before we start.. For todays lesson, I just want you to use your Right Thumb and Right Pinky for every note you play.

OK here are the notes to be played in this Free Piano Lesson… Pinky C5, Thumb C4, Pinky B4, Thumb C4, Pinky A4, Thumb C4, Pinky G4, Thumb C4, Pinky F4, Thumb C4, Pinky E4, Thumb C4, Pinky C5, Thumb D4, C4. ONCE YOU GET TO C YOU CAN NOW GO BACK UP THE SCALE.

Like I said, I highly recommend all students learn the correct fingering to your scales but I also highly recommend all students know the major scales inside and out.  And this way of playing them is a fun way and also ver musical for someone just starting out…

In fact, here is a song that I recorded for a lady named Tammie Davis in which I used this piano lick on the intro and the ending…  I spiced it up a bit for the CD but it is the same one shown here today. But listening to this will give you an idea of what I am talking about…

Free Piano Lesson Country Piano Fill

In todays Free Piano Lesson, I want to cover a very nice piano lick that is used mostly for country music fills…There are several variations of this lick that is played on thousands of country and gospel songs all over the country. And consist of using chord patterns and voicings to enhance the sound of the fill.

Fills like the one in todays Free Piano Lesson that I am getting ready to show you are very popular in todays Southern Gospel Music for artist like Jason Crabb and Mike Bowling and Country Music for artist like Alan Jackson, George Strait and others…

Just a couple of notes before we proceed. Below you will find this example. LC4. In our Free Piano Lesson today, the letters and numbers stand for (LC4) (L) is for Left Hand. (C) is the note to be played and (4) is the octave in which to play it. So C4 would mean play piano note C in the fourth Octave on the piano. More on this down below…

Free Piano Lesson

Today’s Free Piano Lesson will be in the key of C but I highly recommend learning all progressions in as many keys as possible. Also, all chords listed below should be played on 8th notes count… So to make sure you’re not playing the lick when the vocalist is singing… This is what Piano Fill Means… Piano is filling up the space in between the singing.

Also notice that in every example I play C notes on both the low and high end of the piano…

Free Piano Lesson Chord 1. C Major 7th

Chord one: All notes will be played today and are…

Left Hand Pinky C3 — Left Hand Index Finger B3 — Right Hand Index Finger G4 — Right Hand Pinky Finger C5 (Played together)

Free Piano Lesson Chord 2. F Major Chord

Left Hand Pinky C3 — Left Hand Index Finger A3 — Right Hand Index Finger F4 — Right Hand Pinky Finger C5 (Played together)

Free Piano Lesson Chord 3. C Chord

Left Hand Pinky C3 — Left Hand Index Finger G3 — Right Hand Index Finger E4 — Right Hand Pinky Finger C5 (Played together)

Free Piano Lesson Chord 4. C Sus Chord

Left Hand Pinky C3 — Left Hand Index Finger F3 — Right Hand Index Finger D4 — Right Hand Pinky Finger C5 (Played together)

Free Piano Lesson Chord 5. C Diminished Chord

Left Hand Pinky C3 — Left Hand Index Finger F#3 — Right Hand Index Finger D#4 — Right Hand Pinky Finger C5 (Played together)

Free Piano Lesson Chord 6. C Chord

Left Hand Pinky C3 — Left Hand Index Finger G3 — Right Hand Index Finger E4 — Right Hand Pinky Finger C5 (Played together)

———————————————————————————

The voicing of these chords is what make the tone so nice.  and this sequence of chords also allows you to break this lick up as others have and make a couple of fills out of it for example…

Just use chords 1, 2 and 3 by their self and then use 4, 5 and 6 by their self…

I would highly suggest experimenting with this idea and coming up with different ways to improve on the pattern yourself and always remember to put your touch on the lick…

I hope you enjoyed todays Free Piano Lesson and be sure to bookmark us for more Free Piano Lesson s that are updated weekly.

Free Piano Lesson Southern Gospel Music’s Anthony Burger Style

Free Piano Lesson

Free Piano Lesson

Anthony Burger

Hello and welcome to Free Piano Lesson 4U. My name is Tim Sidden and I want to show you a little hot lick piano run that I learned a long time ago. For those of you that are familiar with Southern Gospel Music. A Great Pianist and Dear Friend of mine Anthony Burger used to play this piano lick lightening fast both up and down the piano and people loved it.

I grew up listening to Anthony and his amazing skills on the piano with the Mighty Kingsmen Quartet and later with Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band and in my mind, he was and still is the greatest pianist to ever grace the stage of a Southern Gospel Concert.

So for this Free Piano Lesson and in tribute to the all time best, I am going to show you one of his favorite fast riffs on the piano…

For todays Free Piano Lesson we are going to be in the Key of C. Editors Note: I highly recommend you learn not only this lick but all licks in all chords.

Todays Free Piano Lesson

We are going to start at the top end of the piano (THE HIGH END TO YOUR RIGHT) and coming down the piano. The notes and fingers that we will be using for this Free Piano Lesson are… Start at Right Pinky C6 — Middle Finger A5 — Index Finger G5 — Right Thumb E5 –Right Middle Finger Eb5 –Right Index Finger D5 –Right Thumb C5 — Right Index Finger A4 — Right Pinky C5 . Then repeat lick starting at C5

The most important thing to remember about this free piano lesson is the fingering used to play the notes. These positions which are highlighted above will allow you to play the lick with speed. There are really two critical positions that you will need to practice. The first is the transition from Right Thumb E5 to Right Middle Finger Eb5… The second is from Right Index Finger A4 to Right Pinky C5.

The second move I refer to above in this Free Piano Lesson allows you to set yourself up to play the lick again the next octave down and as long as you play it like this, >> using your Pinky on the Last note C<<  you will be able to continue all the way down the piano.

Here is the cool part about this free piano lesson. When you get as far as you want to go down the piano, you can reverse the lick and play it back up the piano… This was one of Anthony Burger Famous licks and people everywhere loved it.

Now I am going to list all the notes in todays Free Piano Lesson article together for you…

Right Pinky C6 — Middle Finger A5 — Index Finger G5 — Right Thumb E5 –Right Middle Finger Eb5 –Right Index Finger D5 –Right Thumb C5 — Right Index Finger A4 — Right Pinky C5 . Then repeat lick starting at C5…

The bolded notes above are were you will have to switch from an unnatural finger position to make the scale work.
